ASPAS—the Portuguese Astrology Association—is the only association in Portugal with its own bylaws and governing bodies. Since 2012, it has been building bridges between national and international astrologers. First and foremost, it is recommended to have specialized training in astrology, obtained through a comprehensive program of study that covers the theoretical foundations of the discipline, planetary symbolism, the structure of the natal chart, interpretation techniques, and the main methodologies of astrological analysis. This educational foundation should be complemented by supervised practice, allowing one to develop the ability to interpret charts and communicate effectively with clients.

Equally important is participation in research activities, seminars, conferences, and scientific or cultural gatherings related to astrology, which help astrologers deepen their knowledge and stay up to date.

This course is designed primarily for those who have already begun to explore astrology and wish to deepen, systematize, and consolidate their knowledge, guiding them toward a more rigorous and professional practice.

Thus, while advanced knowledge of the subject is not required, it is important to have a basic familiarity with astrological terminology, which will enable students to follow the theoretical and interpretive framework presented throughout the course. This initial foundation serves as a starting point for a more structured, critical, and consistent study of astrology.

To be eligible for the professional certification process, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have been practicing or studying astrology for at least three years, demonstrating continuity in your learning or practice;

  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge of astrology, acquired through structured training, self-study, or practical experience;

  • Demonstrate participation in activities aimed at deepening knowledge and professional development in the field, such as workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings, or study groups dedicated to astrology;

  • Present, where applicable, content or contributions to the field, such as articles, papers, studies, or research projects;

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical and methodological foundations of astrology, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze astrological data.

 

The professional training program for astrologers was designed to provide a structured, progressive, and well-founded learning path that enables students to develop solid skills in the study, interpretation, and practice of astrology.

This training program is based on an integrated approach to the discipline, combining theoretical foundations, interpretive practice, and ethical reflection on the practice of astrology as a professional activity.

The training program is organized into different levels or learning modules, allowing for a gradual progression of knowledge, from the basic principles of astrology to the practical application of its various analytical methods.

Throughout the program, students are also encouraged to participate in seminars, meetings, conferences, and research activities, thereby fostering continuous learning and exposure to different schools of thought within astrology.

Thus, the structure of the professional training program aims to prepare students not only to understand astrology as a complex symbolic language, but also to practice astrology in a conscious, rigorous, and ethically responsible manner.

 

Professional Training Program for Astrologers

Overview

Career Outcome Profile

An Astrological Consultant is a professional qualified to interpret and analyze astrological charts, acting with ethical integrity and responsibility in their relationship with clients. They possess the technical knowledge and training experience that enable them to enter the job market, applying astrology as a tool for analysis, guidance, and personal development.

This professional is capable of analyzing, evaluating, and applying astrological interpretation methodologies, carrying out their work with rigor, respect for astrological knowledge, and a commitment to the client’s well-being.

Qualification Level

The name of this certification does not correspond to a classification within the National Qualifications System; rather, it is a recognition of training that encompasses the knowledge necessary to practice astrology.

In Portugal, the profession of astrologer is listed under item 13.16 of the table attached to the IRS Code, which establishes the tax classification for the profession; the Portuguese classification of professions lists code 5161.1 as “Astrologer.”

Target Audience and Prerequisites

This training is intended for:

  • Young people over the age of 18 who are transitioning into the workforce;

  • Adults already in the workforce who wish to pursue a side job;

  • Unemployed adults seeking to acquire skills for a new career field.

Mandatory prerequisite:
At least 3years of knowledge and practice in astrology.

General Objectives

The purpose of this certification is:

  • To promote a deeper understanding of advanced astrology;

  • Develop tools for self-awareness through the study and practical application of the astrological chart;

  • To provide technical skills that enable the professional practice of astrological consulting.

Portuguese legal regulations apply to the practice of astrology training, specifically the requirement to hold a CCP (Certificate of Pedagogical Competence), as well as the registration of the activity as an astrologer (item 13.16 of the table attached to the IRS Code).

  • To consolidate theoretical and practical knowledge of astrology;

  • Develop advanced astrological analysis and interpretation skills;

  • To prepare students to practice the profession of astrology in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of ASPAS—the Portuguese Astrology Association.

  • Final exam duration: 24 hours

The exam must be taken within a maximum of 24 consecutive hours. It is recommended that students only schedule the exam once they feel they have fully mastered the course material.

Evaluation

The final assessment consists of a written exam, which will be graded by a Certification Program Committee responsible for reviewing and validating the results for this certification.

Isabel Guimarães
A trainer accredited by the IEFP, CAP, and CCP – E-Formador, with international certification in Astrological Consulting, Ethics, and International CAP from ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research). For 10 years, she served as Global Director of ISAR in Portugal, leading its school affiliated with the international certification program. She is the President and Founder of the Portuguese Astrology Association (ASPAS), strictly adhering to the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and also the Director and Founder of Faces Isabel Guimarães, a pioneer in professional certification through DGERT. Her experiencecombines international leadership, specialized training, and a well-established professional practice in the field of astrology.

José Miguel Soares
Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Certified Accountant, withextensive experience in training, particularly in entrepreneurship and accounting. A CCP-certified trainer, he combines a solid academic background with professional experience and effective teaching methods, contributing to the development of his trainees’ practical and strategic skills.

Ana Cláudia Marques
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Design and Multimedia Communication, a postgraduate degree in Training Management and Coordination, and is a certified trainer (CCP). With over 10 years of professional experience as a designer, she combines technical knowledge, creativity, and teaching expertise to train professionals capable of working in real-world and innovative contexts.

A committee for this certification program reviews the exam and documentation. After successfully completing all certification requirements, the candidate will receive the designation “Certified Professional in Advanced Astrology Training” from SIGO (https://www.dgeec.mec.pt/np4/sigo) through ASPAS’s partner organization, as previously mentioned, in conjunction with SIGO (No. 14071)—Integrated into the Information and Management System for Educational and Training Programs. Intensive course integrated into continuing education. DGERT ( https://www.dgert.gov.pt/) certificate No. 1603/2015, Certified Field of Astrology No. 999.

If you do not achieve the required score—that is, 65% of the exam with correct answers—you can improve your score by requesting a retake or by completing other assessments that your instructors may assign. If you do not achieve the required score, you cannot reapply for this certification, and we will issue a certificate of attendance for the ASPAS exam; you will not receive professional certification, nor will we refund your money.
