The Horoscope as Mandala
Carl Jung saw the mandala as a reflection of the true and undivided self. He identified the horoscope as a form of mandala, containing the key elements of the circle and the cross or quaternity, linking it to the symbolism of both alchemy and individuation. This talk looks at drawing the birth chart by hand as a creative, imaginative and meditative engagement. We will explore the ancient symbolism of the circle and the alchemical concept of ‘squaring the circle’ via the four angles that connect earth to sky. Into this circular ritual space, we will invite the planetary deities, each with its myths, stories, rhythms, cycles and correspondences. Engaging with our own birth chart as a mandala, and as alchemical vessel or sacred space, allows us to reconnect deeply with the living essence of who we are.
